Article Keyword Analysis -- 7 Success Tips
by Mike Griffith
If you're new to article marketing and keyword research, here are 7 tips that will help you find the right keyword to use to promote your online business and drive targeted traffic to your website.
1. Use Google's free keyword research tool. Just Google the term "Google keyword tool." This will give you vital information about your competition, cost per click and search volume. This is the information that will determine whether or not you'll use a particular keyword.
2. Do your own keyword research. After all, it's your business, and you should be in control of every aspect of it. And that's the best way to learn the ins and outs of article keyword analysis.
3. Choose one major and about 4 additional keywords per article and make sure they are all relevant to your topic. This will help you keep focused on your topic, but most of all, it will also tell the search engines that your keyword relates to what you're writing about.
4. Pick a keyword with 500 or more searches per day. Some writers believe that choosing keywords with only 50 searches per day is sufficient, but I disagree. With only 50 people a day searching for your keyword, you'll only get a percentage of those clicks to your site, depending on your search engine position. Don't waste your time and effort on low volume keywords.
5. Select a keyword that's worth at least $1 per click and has ads displayed on the search page. Some people disagree with this, but I believe your keyword has some value if competitors are willing to pay for it. And the fact that they're willing to pay $1 per click reinforces that value.
6. Choose a keyword with low competition. At least that's what the "experts" tell you. I say it doesn't really matter about the competition unless you are sure you can rank for that keyword on Google's first page.
Is there a way to know whether or not you're able to rank on Google before you spend hours researching a particular keyword? Yes. I use a new keyword analysis software program that not only tells me whether or not I'm wasting my time in hot pursuit; it also scans my competition's site and shows me, in about 20 seconds, what I would need to do in order to rank on Google's first page. You can click here to see how it works.
7. Use long tail keywords (3 words or more). Long tail keywords are easier to rank for because they are more targeted to your topic. For example, the word "fishing" is too broad and would be extremely difficult to rank for on Google. But "fishing in Lake Tawakoni" would have much less competition and would be easier to rank for. Just make sure you have sufficient volume to justify using this term.
If you're like me and don't have the extra time it takes to do proper keyword research, do what I do. I use keyword research software. It saves me a lot of time because it does everything for me. Again, If you're interested, you can visit Keyword Elite to see how it works.

Article keyword analysis is the number one factor you should consider before sitting down to write any article. That's because the primary reason for writing any article is to get free traffic from the search engines through your link embedded in your article.
In order to get this free search engine traffic, your readers have to be able to find your article. And the primary way they will find it is through the search engine listings.
