How to Create a Niche Site
by Mike Griffith
Here is a general outline for the four basic steps for creating an effective niche site. You can get more detailed information at the end of this article.
1. Write an article that focuses on a long tail keyword phrase (4 words or more). Choose a keyword that you can rank for. One with around 1000 Google searches a month. You can get some ideas from television, personal conversations, billboards and a variety of online sources. When searching for your keyword use Google's keyword tool.
2. Select a product. Your article should focus on the product you select. To find a product to promote, Clickbank is a great place to start. Neverblue.com is also a popular place to get product ideas. You'll be required to register with these sites before you can start using them.
3. Come up with four more keywords. The third step in creating a niche site is to choose four more long tail keywords that relate to your original keyword and create a web page for each one. For maximum exposure link all 5 pages together. To do this, simply place a "Related Topics" section at the bottom of each page and list each title with an anchor text.
4. Get backlinks to your articles. A back link is a hyperlink placed on another website that points "back" to your site. You can get quality back links by posting your article in article directories like EzineArticles, GoArticles and ArticlesBase.
Include an anchor link in each of these articles pointing readers back to your original article. This strategy enhances your ranking with the search engines -- and your chances of getting targeted traffic to your site.
Once you get indexed (listed) by Google and start building traffic, you'll need to keep building back links to your site to continue improving your ranking.
As you can see, this is just a general outline of how to create a niche site. For more detailed information about how you can start and build a profitable niche site in just a few days, I suggest you grab a copy of The Niche Marketing Newbie, by Craig Michaels. It's one of the most detailed books I have read on niche marketing. It's what I use in my marketing campaigns. You can get a copy here.
