Where To Find Article Ideas: 7 Super Tips
by Mike Griffith
I used to cringe at the idea of where to find article ideas for my website articles. I thought everything had to be original. But then I thought about the old adage, "There is nothing new under the sun." And it wasn't until I started looking around that the ideas started flowing in. Article ideas were everywhere -- just waiting for you to grab them -- and start writing.
Here are 7 great places to find ideas for your next article.
1. Check out the seasons.
What season is it? Think about seasonal events in your own town. A special tribute town folks would love to read about. A holiday festival. Easter parade or other festivities. What about an article about Mother's day, Veteran's day, the origin of Easter? Or a local Christmas or Thanksgiving tradition.
2. Walk the neighborhood.
Get out and walk a different neighborhood for ideas. Go to an interesting part of town that you're not familiar with. What unusual activities or events do you notice? What about unusual stores, restaurants and shops?
3. Browse the forums
If you really want to know where to find quick article ideas, check out online forums that are related to your topic. They are full of questions and interesting answers from experts who give excellent advice. Forums are also a place where you can make money simply by posting your own questions and comments.
4. Your own experience
Everybody has some experience doing something exceptionally well. And that includes you. What are you good at? What do you like to do? Write about it. Your experience is different from everyone else's. What have you done lately that you enjoyed -- or hated? What about some of the really tough times you have had to face? How did you get through it? How did it affect your outlook on life? What did you learn from these experiences?
5. Surf the internet for ideas.
Get on Google and type in a question on any topic you desire. You'll get tons of information and ideas to write about. Also check out sites like Yahoo Answers for answers to questions others have asked. The answers to these questions can provide material for several articles on practically any topic.
6. What's in the news?
If you want to keep up with what people are doing and what they are reading about, check out the local news. That includes radio and television. Cable and satellite stations are packed with article ideas in their full coverage and in-depth news format. Listen for ideas that interest you.
7. Visit the bookstore.
You'll be surprised at how many article ideas you can get just by visiting your local bookstore. Read the overhead aisle signs for interesting topics. Turning book titles into questions can also spark an idea for a new article.
Since it's impossible to remember every idea you come across, remember to keep a notebook with you wherever you go. Take an active role in seeking out the common things and you'll be surprised at how many articles you'll be able to write with little or no effort.
These seven resources should give you a starting point for where to find article ideas. You're limited only by your imagination.
